Dreams, regardless of what possible connections they may or may not have to reality, are just a way of the brain (particularly the sub-conscious) to work out problems, make plans, or even come to terms with certain aspects of things. Dreams, though, can help you figure out what it is that your brain is focusing on, though. Or what your brain is attempting to tell you. For instance, my dreams are about the future, which leads to my de ja vu. I dream the future, and then it happens. But, again, it's just a way of the brain to work things out.
