I can't get the edit command in command prompt to work?
Anytime you get the the "bad command" or "not recog..." messages for an executable (such as Edit), in DOS, it's because the executable is not loaded in the root directory of the DOS program or version running. To see the list of files in the root directory, simply type dir at the prompt. To make sure you are in the root directory, type CD.. (cd plus two dots) . If you dont see EDIT.COM in the list, you have found the cause of your problem. All you need to do is get a copy of edit or any other DOS program executable added to the DOS directory you are working from. You can copy it from an old Win9x disk to a floppy, then from the floppy to your DOS program. Older versions of these executable commands will work with newer DOS version command.coms.
