How do I get rid of earwigs in my house?

I live an old country house and it's spring and it's hot! For those of you who don't know what that means, it means, ants, flies, moths, spiders and earwigs slipping in every crack they can find! So far I've only had problems with spiders and earwigs, but the earwigs are horrible this year worse than ever!! I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to rid myself of these pesty little things!! My sister is staying with me helping me around the house because I just had surgery and I'm not able to do much, well, she wasn't able to sleep in the living room last night because she had earwigs literally crawling all over her (she was next to our bay window) then, she woke up this morning to earwigs in her shoes! Embarring!! Please tell me that there is a solution!!
